Privacy policy and cookies

Swiss Life Guard takes confidentiality seriously, on this website as much as on site during an intervention. This page explains what data we collect, why, how long we keep it and how you stay in control of it. It follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP, SR 235.1) and its ordinance (DPO), together with article 45c of the Telecommunications Act for cookies. For visitors from the European Union we also apply the GDPR.

What we collect, and why
The contact form
When you write to us from the Contact page, we receive your name, your company if you give it, your email address, your phone number if you give it, the subject and your message.
- Why: to answer you and, where relevant, to prepare a service. Without this information we cannot deal with your request.
- Where it goes: the message is sent to us by email and a copy is kept in the website database, hosted in Switzerland.
- How long: two years after our last exchange. If your request leads to a contract, the related records are kept for ten years, as required by article 958f of the Swiss Code of Obligations.
The form includes an optional box to receive our news emails. It is unticked by default, it does not condition the sending of your message, and you can unsubscribe at any time by writing to us.
Server logs
Like any website, ours automatically records the IP address, the date, the page requested and the browser used. These logs serve security and technical operation only; they are kept by the host for a short period and are not used to identify you.
Audience measurement
We would like to know which pages are read, so we can improve the site. This tool runs only if you accept it — see the cookies section below.
Cookies
A cookie is a small file placed on your device by the website you visit. We set none for advertising purposes and we sell nothing on.
On your first visit a banner offers three options: accept everything, reject everything, or choose in detail. Rejecting takes exactly one click, just like accepting, and nothing degrades if you reject. Until you have chosen, no measurement cookie is set and no data goes to a third party. If your browser sends the “Global Privacy Control” signal, we treat it as a refusal without bothering you.
Your choice lasts six months, after which we ask again. You can change it whenever you like: the “Manage cookies” link at the bottom of every page reopens the preferences panel.

These cookies are essential to the working of the site and are not used to track you. They therefore cannot be switched off.

These cookies are set by Google LLC (United States) and the matching data is sent there. If you refuse, they are not set; if you withdraw an agreement you had given, they are deleted.
Who else sees your data
We neither sell nor rent any data. We rely on a small number of providers, each for a specific task:
- Infomaniak Network SA (Geneva, Switzerland) — hosting of the site and its database. The data stays in Switzerland.
- Swisscom / Bluewin (Switzerland) — the mail service through which we receive your messages.
- Neuron-e Sàrl (Switzerland) — technical maintenance of the site, with access limited to what maintenance requires.
- Google LLC (United States) — audience measurement, only if you have accepted it.
- Google LLC (United States) — the typefaces used on the site. Loading a typeface sends your IP address to Google. No cookie is set in the process.
The United States is not among the countries whose protection the Swiss Federal Council recognises as adequate (annex 1 of the DPO). Transfers therefore rely on the Swiss–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, to which Google LLC is certified, and on standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
The FADP gives you rights you can exercise free of charge, by a simple email to swiss-life-guard@bluewin.ch:
- To know what data we hold about you and what we do with it (art. 25 FADP).
- To have corrected any inaccurate data (art. 32 FADP).
- To have erased your data, unless the law requires us to keep it.
- To object to a processing, and to withdraw an agreement at any time — without that counting against you.
- To receive your data in a common format, or have it transmitted (art. 28 FADP).
We answer within thirty days. We may ask you for proof of identity, so as not to hand your data to someone else.
If our answer does not satisfy you, you may refer the matter to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), Feldeggweg 1, 3003 Bern. People living in the European Union may also contact the supervisory authority of their country.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS only, its components are kept up to date, and administration access is limited to the people who need it. No protection is absolute: we apply measures proportionate to the risk, as article 8 FADP requires.
What we do not do
- No automated decision-making and no profiling.
- This site asks for no sensitive data within the meaning of article 5 FADP.
- No targeted advertising and no advertising cookies.
- This site is not aimed at children and does not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
This policy may change as the site changes. The date at the top shows the current version. If a change affects how your data is used, the consent banner will be shown to you again.
